Week 3: Treasure Hunt

1. What is the weight of the world’s biggest machine? How much did it cost to build?



World's Largest machine is the Large Hadron Collider. Its weight is extremely heavy, with 1600 magnets placed into the machine, each one of them weighing 27 tonnes each= 43200, just in magnet weight. This doesnt include the 96 tonnes of heliam spreding across the 27 kilometer machine. The project cost around 6.4 billion dollars to create.

The first example of global digital communication was the Morse Code, this is considered digital because it uses letter numbers and words. (Told in Class)

Hatsune Miku is a character from a Japanese vocal series. She belongs to Nico Nico Douga  and her birthday is 9th November 2008.

6. Find a live webcam in Antarctica. Find a place to stay in Antarctica.


MAWSON Station is where the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) have stationed their live webcam where images are transferred via satellite depicting the weather, season and environmental changes. The images are sent to the AAD Headquarters in Kingston, which is located in Tasmania. Pictures are updated every 10 minutes.

The song which topped the charts in Australia in 1980 was "funky town" by Lipps Inc. The Song stayed at number one for two weeks.

8. How would you define the term 'nano technology'? In your own words, what does it really mean?


My Definition:
Nano Technology is something that i would define as being very small. As i assume Nano means something microscopic, and combined with the word technology it would be a very very small technological device.


Real Definition:
technology for microscopic devices:  the art of manipulating materials on a very small scale in order to build microscopic machinery.

The camera used to capture the Google Street View was the Dodeca 2360, which could capture shots from 11 different angles, and an average of 30 frames per second.
